Four days ago, I received a fortune cookie from a lady working at the duty-free fragrance counter in Manchester Airport (Terminal 2).
One hour later—after an espresso, a small English breakfast, and a large glass of rosé—I opened the fortune cookie and here’s what it said:
🙂 The things done is repeated but also original. 🙂

Something I’ve always struggled with is feeling like my ideas are unoriginal: that I’m just repeating what someone else has already said or done, but this time less eloquently and less interestingly.
I had the idea for The Beginner Birder in late 2024. Birdwatching has been a lifelong interest of mine, and this year I’m ✨determined✨ to pour my effort into making it a helpful resource for anyone who wants to learn more about birding.
Some tips may be familiar to you, but I’m hoping that I can bring an original, helpful perspective—by drawing on what I found helpful when I was getting into birdwatching!
All that to say, thank you for stopping by. Feel free to get in touch with your feedback!
Happy birding,
Elli
